ivi TV is Internet television. Whether your content is premium, independent, international, subscription, ad-based, or pay-per-view, the ivi TV platform is equipped to distribute your channel online. Unlike other streaming protocols (Flash, MMS, RTSP, HTTP, Helix), ivi delivers continuous live TV, without delays, buffering, or waiting. This is entirely due to our proprietary payload delivery technology that delivers a television experience online.
ivi aggregates channels for consumers and pays affiliate fees for content, just like a cable company. Unlike a cable company, ivi delivers content over the Internet to any Windows, Macintosh, or Linux computer. In essence, ivi is an online multiple system operator (MSO), delivering a downloadable tv viewing application.
ivi captures live television signals into our proprietary encoders (E), which register with our trackers (T), send the live encoded and encrypted signal to our seeders (S), distributing all the live television signals to our peer players (P) viewed by consumers.
Because ivi is Live Internet Television, not archived, ivi takes your existing 24/7 live feed and distributes that stream, uninterrupted, to viewers worldwide. The ivi TV methodology allows ivi to expand your reach and revenue without increasing cost. Think of it this way. ivi TV does not require you to change your existing cable or satellite distribution, business, or revenue models. With ivi TV, you simply operate those models over a new delivery medium or introduce a new revenue model of your choosing.
ivi protects your content, your copyright, and your ownership with content encryption. This means that when distributing paid content on ivi TV, the only people who have access to your content or can view your content are the people who have paid for it. This is accomplished by uniquely identifying every individual ivi TV player. Because every individual user is uniquely identified, each ivi TV player can only open streams that it is authorized to open. What this means is that ivi TV can guarantee that your content cannot be pirated and can only be viewed by ivi TV players that you have granted access to your programs.
Of course, certain content is available in ivi TV free of charge, a basic downloadable internet TV viewing application. Premium content is viewed on a subscription basis, and affiliate fees are paid per subscriber. Pay-Per-View content is for live events that have a specific viewing window. Viewers pay for the event on an a la carte basis, and charges then are split with the event channel. Video-on-demand, program rental, and other non-live features are in development.
Due to the nature of uniquely identifying each and every ivi TV player, ivi has the built-in ability to track demographic viewing habits with an accuracy heretofore unimagined. This allows us to know who is watching every channel, for how long, when channel changes occur and what functions are accessed (e.g., muting, pausing, etc.) This demographic information is available as an additional service to every content provider with a channel available on ivi TV.
ivi aggregates your channel through one of two means, a physical hardware encoder with A/V cables plugged in, or an existing high quality web stream that we can capture. Either of those two ingestion mechanisms are ways to get your channel into the ivi seeders, big cloud buffer engines that spool up and deliver your channel to the ivi players that connect to view your channel on ivi. Both of these methods guarantee smooth delivery of your channel without buffering delays, because ivi's proprietary software application scales the signal to the viewers bandwidth.
Once your channel is ingested, it is listed as a channel to all the ivi installation base as an available channel for viewers to view or subscribe.
