How to Connect Your Channel Into the ivi Encoder Hardware
Each ivi Encoder outputs two definition formats of the input content. ivi supports 6 formats, the default distribution formats are SD, LD, PD, and SS as listed below:
- High Definition (HD) - for highest broadband connections (<3Mbps)
- Enhanced Definition (ED) - for high broadband connections (<1Mbps)
- Standard Definition (SD) - for broadband connections (<768kbps)
- Low Definition (LD) - for low broadband connections (<384kbps)
- Poor Definition (PD) - for poor broadband connections (<192kbps)
- SlideShow (SS) - For mobile connections (<128kbps)
Upon receiving your ivi encoder(s) for content distribution over the internet please read the following specifications for installation. If you have questions please contact ops@ivi.tv.
ivi Encoder dimensions: 1U(h) x 14” (d)
Installation:
Each ivi encoder requires a minimum realized 1024kbps uplink connection to the Internet.
Each ivi encoder requires a surge protected 110v AC power connection. (Surge protectors is not provided by ivi, Inc.)
Each ivi encoder is currently capable of receiving content input from the following content source standards in RCA or S-Video:
- PAL-BGH
- PAL-DK
- PAL-I
- PAL-M
- PAL-N
- PAL-Nc
- SECAM-BGH
- SECAM-DK
- SECAM-L
- SECAM-L'
- NTSC-M
- NTSC-J
- NTSC-K
No keyboard, mouse, or monitor inputs required for daily operation.
Encoders should remain powered down until all audio-visual and internet connections have been made.
All ivi encoders are identified by their MAC address labeled on the front, please save the encoder MAC address information for your records.

Once the encoders are mounted, connect the RCA or S-Video source audio and video inputs to the back of the encoder.
Connect the ivi Encoder to your minimum realized 512 kbps uplink speed active internet connection.
For countries outside of North America do not use AC power plug adapters unless you have verified AC power voltage as 110v first.
Insert power cable to the ivi Encoder then connect power plug to surge protected 110v AC power.
On closed networks, each encoder will be identifiable by the MAC address on your network.
Verify with your IT department that the MAC address number visible on each ivi encoder is visible to your network.
If the ivi encoder MAC ID is not visible. Check connections or network permissions.
If the ivi encoder MAC ID is visible to your network and permissions are in place to allow the ivi encoder access to the public internet, please email the ivi Network Operations Center at noc@ivi.tv for verification of source signal transmission, activation of your online channel and installation close-out.
