Brilliant programmer Dmitry Voronkov has developed the invulnerable operating system “A-B-I-E.” The startup where Dmitry works is headed by his brother Artyom. Immediately after the system is presented to potential buyers, a horrific tragedy occurs. That evening, Dmitry regains consciousness in the office and discovers his brother dead. At that moment, police officers burst into the building and arrest the programmer. Dmitry receives a lengthy prison sentence to be served in a maximum-security penal colony in Siberia. The inmates constantly beat the programmer and demand that he hand over the flash drive containing “A-B-I-E.” Soon, Dmitry receives threats “from the outside” — unknown people promise to kill his pregnant wife if he does not give them the system. Dmitry then decides to escape and asks a local crime boss for help. In the taiga, St. Petersburg investigator Markin accidentally witnesses the prisoners’ escape and sets off in pursuit.
