The life of surgeon Darya Smirnova is divided into “before” and “after” the terrible accident involving her daughter Anna. The girl urgently needs a kidney transplant, but her father, the only possible donor, cowardly runs away. Darya’s boss Sergey offers an unexpected way out to the desperate mother: forge the documents and take the donor organ intended for another patient.
Darya refuses, but Sergey decides to carry out the plan in secret. The operation saves Anya, but turns into a nightmare for Darya: Sergey begins blackmailing her, threatening to expose the fraud, and demands a relationship. Believing that the other patient survived, Darya cuts off contact and moves to another clinic. She does not know the terrible truth: the girl died, and her brother is already on her trail. Now Darya must prove her innocence when all the evidence in the forged documents points directly to her.
