The Messenger’s fiancée remains outside the gates. Despite the quarantine, he does not abandon his attempts to escape the castle and reunite with his beloved. Unfortunately for William, he is noticed by the local Baron’s daughter. She is not particularly beautiful, is capricious, and also has a drinking problem and a desperate desire to get married before turning thirty. There is one week left, and the Messenger faces a difficult choice. Either he marries the Baron’s daughter or he will be executed. The Baron, languishing in the castle from boredom, eagerly awaits either outcome.
Besides the Baron’s family, the castle is also home to ordinary medieval citizens, such as the Executioner, the Court Magician, the Monk, the Head of the Palace Guard, a Medieval Blogger, and an ordinary Witch. But now their lives have changed because of the quarantine. Everyone is trying to adapt to the new conditions. The Executioner tries to carry out executions remotely. The Pechenegs raid the town wearing gloves and masks. The guards chase townspeople to take their temperatures.
