A group of people who have never met before gathers on a rocky island. Representatives of different walks of life—a judge, an elderly lady, a schoolteacher, a retired military man, a doctor, a judge, and a police officer—arrive at the invitation of the mysterious Allen Owen, whom none of them has ever met. When it turns out that the host himself is not there and that it is impossible to leave the island due to the lack of transport, the guests settle into a luxurious mansion.
The strange situation in which everyone finds themselves only becomes more confusing over time. At the very first dinner, the guests hear accusations of murder directed at them, and soon death truly comes into their midst, taking the guests one by one. The characters recall that small plaques hang in their bedrooms featuring a children’s counting rhyme about ten little Indians, who die in the same ways as the victims of the murders on the island…
