Nadya Mitrofanova lived a quiet and peaceful life, working at one of Moscow’s libraries. But one fine day, her life began to change: first, Dima Poluyanov, her former classmate from the History Department of Moscow State University, arrived from St. Petersburg and came straight to Nadya’s workplace. Officially, he is in Moscow to conduct master classes for aspiring journalists, but in fact Poluyanov is conducting a secret investigation into financial fraud at a charitable foundation that collects money for the alleged treatment of terminally ill children at foreign clinics.
Soon, Nadya receives a call from a lawyer: her father, whom she had never actually communicated with, died several days earlier and left the young woman an inheritance—a large mansion located not far from Moscow. However, Nadya is in no hurry to rejoice over the inheritance: the neighbors in the settlement are somehow suspicious and unfriendly, while a local clairvoyant even warns the young woman of the danger threatening her. Incidentally, Dima and Nadya have long noticed that they are being followed, but which one of them is being hunted? Poluyanov, who is trying to expose the fraudulent benefactors, or Nadya?
