Irina Novikova, the kind and decent owner of a private boarding house, loses everything overnight: her fiancé leaves her before the wedding, saddling her with enormous debts, while the Antonov brothers, her sponsors, shut down the business as unprofitable. Desperate, Irina agrees to become a caregiver for their seriously ill father. Unexpectedly, the old man proposes to her, and Irina, cornered by circumstances, agrees. However, just one day after the wedding, the elder Antonov dies, and Irina herself is arrested on suspicion of murder.
Maxim, the deceased man’s eldest son, helps her get out of pretrial detention, as he is the only one who does not believe she is guilty. Together, they begin their own investigation, delving into the dark past of the Antonov family, where everyone keeps their own secrets.
