Hotel “Russia,” a five-minute walk from Red Square, was a symbol of Soviet prosperity. Inside the enormous building, there was another world hidden away—luxurious and alluring—which was shown to the capital’s guests. Ksenia works here, and her duty is to ensure the comfort of high-ranking visitors.
Every one of her working days is full of intrigues and schemes that the employees plot against one another. A clandestine struggle for power is underway at the hotel, where it is difficult to tell enemies from allies. Getting a job at “Russia” and keeping it is incredibly difficult. And Ksenia’s position becomes especially precarious when she realizes that she is pregnant by Manuel—a Nicaraguan citizen who arrived in the Soviet Union to purchase weapons…
