One day, an elderly woman comes to an antique shop. She wants to sell a family heirloom—an antique jade turtle figurine which, according to her, has brought happiness to its owners for many decades.
However, it is this very rare trinket that former detective Ilya Smolin finds in his possession the next day. Out of professional habit, he investigates the case and quickly finds the unlucky thief—Yura Kopylov, whom he recently saw at the police station. However, he is unable to find out where Yura got the figurine before planting it on the police officer, because Yura is dead. The official cause was a simple heart attack, but Ilya decides to continue the investigation. The fact is that several witnesses saw a mysterious lady in a white scarf near the deceased shortly before his death.
In addition, Ilya meets Kopylov’s niece to give her the turtle and unexpectedly falls in love with the girl.
