This is the story of a man consumed from within by an irrepressible virus of self-destruction, unable to find joy or fulfill his potential. It all begins with a long-awaited housewarming in the apartment Victor, an ordinary engineer, received through his workplace. His wife Galina, tired of the constant lies and indifference, hopes that the new home will become a turning point in their family life. However, Victor takes no pleasure in the housewarming; he is sick of everything around him. The protagonist has not felt happy for a very long time. Things are not going smoothly at work either. To help his colleague Anatoly Sayapin, without making much effort, he suggests that management invest money in a nonexistent project.
