Vadim Tarasov was once considered a star operative, but the situation changed drastically, and he had to leave the service to find a new calling. Tormented by doubts about where to turn, the former law enforcement officer goes to the employment service. The charming employee Veronika piques his professional interest. Tarasov instinctively senses that there is something wrong with this secretive woman, and perhaps it depends on him whether she can cope with her problems.
Vadim's actions lead to Veronika—a mother of two children and even the grandmother of a young grandson—indeed finding herself in serious trouble. As the plot unfolds, unattractive facts from Tarasov's past activities come to light, but here and now he is a reliable ally to a woman who has gotten involved with very dangerous people. This means Vadim will have to take up a weapon once again.
