When the body of a forty-year-old woman is found in one of the capital’s parks, the police are in no hurry to open a case—it is easier to attribute her death to natural causes and not waste time and resources on an investigation. But the restless widower, bank employee, and brilliant mathematician Sotnikov is certain that his wife was murdered.
Realizing that there is no help to be expected from the police, Sotnikov begins his own investigation, aided by his mathematical mindset and education. Although he knows neither law nor medicine, Sotnikov quickly becomes a professional. And he discovers that his wife really was murdered. And also that she had a lover.
