1979. In a northern town, the police are investigating the murder of a man who worked at gold mines. But from the very beginning, the case proves to be anything but straightforward. First, they cannot find the suspect, Grigory Melenko, then it turns out that a man by that name... died during the war. It becomes clear that the story is very dark indeed if someone needed to live as a dead soul. The investigation moves forward, and the detectives come face to face with a tangle of secrets, the greatest of which is the life of the mysterious criminal.
