Widower Sergey Burkov decides to leave St. Petersburg with his daughters for the countryside, where he hopes to start life over, far from painful memories. Having purchased a house in the settlement of Begosha, the former forensic expert wants to take up gardening, thus fulfilling the dream of his late wife.
But on his very first day, Sergey has to use his professional investigative skills to clear himself of suspicion in the robbery of the local post office. After catching the hapless criminal, the hero earns the trust of his new neighbors.
However, this is not the last crime. When the village head dies under strange circumstances, Sergey is forced to put aside his concerns about flowers for a while.
