On a secluded island in Karelia, life proves to be far more dangerous than one might expect. Writer Agatha Sever finds plots for her gripping detective stories here, inadvertently becoming their main character. The notorious criminal Semyon, who was accused of murdering a local girl named Veronika twenty years ago, returns to the island. He takes the writer’s loyal assistant, Marusya, hostage. To save her friend and restore justice, Agatha tries to unravel the old case. The reclusive doctor Pavel, whom Agatha has come to love during her stay on the island, may be involved in it.
