Thirty-five-year-old Lena and her wealthy husband are travelling along the Volga on their own yacht. When the vessel breaks down near the town of Zavolzhsk, her husband goes ashore to have some fun, while Lena remains on board with local electrician Dima. Lena gets angry with Dima and throws him off the yacht without paying for his work. That same night, she accidentally falls overboard, while her drunk husband fails to notice and sails on. The heroine loses her memory and ends up in Zavolzhsk City Hospital, where Dima finds her. He decides to teach the arrogant Lena a lesson, calls her his wife and takes her home.
