The Series is set in the 1940s and 1950s. Alexei Kazarin and Tatyana Shapilina had been friends since childhood—they were so-called Kremlin children, fortunate enough to be born into families working for the government. Their childhood unfolded in the very heart of the capital, where destinies were decided and historic decisions were made.
Little Alyosha, the son of the deputy head of the Kremlin garage, had always been fascinated by history, was friends with the Kremlin’s cultural valuables appraiser, and was obsessed with the idea of finding Ivan the Terrible’s library. His knowledge proved useful when, one fine day, a vehicle transporting precious stones was attacked, and Alyosha’s father, who vanished without a trace, was named the prime suspect.
