Young schoolteacher Vera Stepnova lived peacefully and happily with her husband Viktor and their little daughter until she got an opportunity to earn some good extra money. She is offered a job giving private lessons in the home of millionaire Pyotr Andreyev. The tragedy begins when Vera discovers another side of him—as an unrestrained and dangerous rapist. Soon after the incident, Andreyev is found murdered in his car. The deceased man’s pregnant wife Natalya loses her baby and vows to take revenge for the destruction of her family. Making a deal with her conscience, she sends Vera behind bars. Both women face a difficult path full of losses, disappointments, and the search for new happiness.
