The young teacher Vera was quite a happy woman until she receives an offer to work as a tutor in the home of oligarch Pyotr Andreyev. Soon, he is found murdered, and his wife Natalya loses her child. Driven mad by grief, the woman blames Vera for everything and, using her connections, sends her to prison. Both women face a difficult journey full of losses, disappointments, and the search for new happiness.
