Young Masha has lived her whole life in comfort and prosperity, provided by her loving parents. When they insist that their daughter marry Kostya, the son of their friends, the young woman agrees despite her doubts. Masha dreams of studying the World Ocean, but her family considers this idea a pointless pursuit. Following her elders’ advice, Masha gets married, but soon realizes that she has made a fatal error. Kostya inadvertently sets up her father, a government official, and the deputy is accused of corruption. Masha’s family finds itself in a difficult financial situation, and she will have to deal with all of life’s hardships on her own…
