The main character, Tatyana Ivanova, used to be a senior lieutenant in the criminal investigation department. After being laid off, she decides to open her own detective agency in the city of Tarasov. Local residents constantly turn to her for help when they cannot or, for certain reasons, do not want to contact the authorities. Tatyana never leaves a single request unheard and sees all her cases through to the end. Her former colleagues also help her investigate crimes, including Captain Melnikov, who has long been in love with Tatyana.
