The events of the Series «Black Cats» unfold in 1947. Devastation and famine reign in the postwar city of Rostov-on-Don. Local residents use bread as currency. Crime is flourishing everywhere, and it is impossible to bring it under control, since men are needed for that, and few have returned from the front. Criminal gangs begin raiding food warehouses and robbing people. Homeless children also join the criminal ranks. No one wants to work at a factory, as there is no money there anyway. One gang becomes famous for its daring robberies and earns the nickname «Black Cat». Investigator Yegor Dragun must deal with this gang.
