Alexey Bazhenov is an experienced and respected surgeon for whom work has always been more important than his personal life. On one of his rare days off, he happens to meet a young woman named Alya. She is confined to a wheelchair, but this does not stop her from enjoying every day and looking at the world with remarkable optimism. Alexey is captivated— for the first time in a long while, he feels ready for a serious relationship. But he does not recognize in her the very girl he operated on ten years ago. Alya, however, recognized him at first sight: it was this man who, through a medical miscalculation, deprived her of the ability to walk.
