The main characters are different types of vehicles: construction, fire, police, and transport vehicles. In each episode, they find themselves in everyday situations that show how machinery helps people and why friendship and responsibility are important. The plots are simple: the little vehicles repair roads, put out fires, transport cargo, learn to follow rules, and work together.
