After the holiday corporate party, Elena Abramova, the single director of a renovation company, notices signs of attention from her deputy, Anatoly Zhivenko. At first, the relationship seems promising, but the illusions are shattered when an enraged client, Semyon, bursts into the office: he demands the address of the apartment where his wife and her lover ordered renovations. In the heat of the conflict, Zhivenko does not defend Elena but calls the police, staying on the sidelines. Soon Elena’s personal life falls apart completely: her son runs over and kills the district prosecutor’s wife and is sentenced to five years in prison. Returning from visiting her son late at night, Elena gets stranded on a deserted road when her car engine stalls. A jeep emerges from the darkness: behind the wheel is a drunken Semyon with a gun.
