Valery Gusko is a rising star of Soviet football. The young man’s life is turned upside down overnight when he is accused of murder. All the evidence points to him, and the only person who can help prove his innocence is photographer Kostya Lopushansky, a chance witness. As children, Kostya and Valera played on the same football team, coached by Kostya’s father. For the sake of his dad, who is worried about the fate of his talented protégé, Kostya offers to help the investigation.
