The Soviet adventure mini-Series "Makar the Tracker" is aimed primarily at a young audience, though it will be no less interesting to adult viewers. At the center of the plot are the adventures of a village boy named Makar and his friends during the tragic times of the Civil War. Makar was born and raised in a village, helped his parents with chores, and played with his friends, but when the war began, his usual concerns faded into the background. The glory of a hero began to beckon Makar: he wanted to perform some great feat, defeat a cunning enemy, or save someone from drowning. The boy understands that he is still too young for real heroics, yet he still longs to join the ranks of the Red Army and fight against the Whites. Unexpectedly, fate gives Makar a chance to fulfill his dream. A certain Staff Captain Cherny is running rampant near their settlement, sowing destruction and striking harmless villagers with terror. Makar and his friends Timofey, Egorka, Mikhail, and Irakly decide to show what they are made of and drive the scoundrel from their native land. The boys' determination is so strong that they do not stop even when faced with the need to steal a real tank from the Red Army soldiers.
