Yury Chursin stars in a military-historical drama series based on real events that took place at the height of the Great Patriotic War, in 1942–43. Despite its title, the movie has little in common with Alexander Fadeev’s novel of the same name.
The story takes place in a small town called Krasnodon. Here, people’s avengers—brave young men and women—create an underground anti-fascist organization to resist the occupiers. Despite the fact that their predecessors were betrayed and killed, the young people of Krasnodon are not afraid to act. At the head of the «Young Guard» is eighteen-year-old Viktor Tretyakevich. Under his leadership, the teenagers carry out a number of acts of sabotage: they rob a weapons depot, disrupt food supplies for the fascist rear, and flood mines. The Germans do not know who they are dealing with and cannot imagine that all of this is the work of teenagers.
