About the series

Former sailor Andrei Borodin refuses to work for labor-day credits and hand over his hard-earned property to the state. Others join him in opposing the new authorities: a rebellion is brewing in the village of Tikhanovo, and the peasants slaughter their livestock so that it does not end up with the collective farm. The officials sent from the city do not forgive disobedience: they draw up lists for dekulakization, and Borodin and his family are among the first to be included.
