The Russian melodramatic mini-Series "Unloved" is devoted to the drama that occurred in the life of Anya, a graduate of a Moscow medical university. The young woman had excellent prospects for building a major career in her field; however, Anya had to give up her dream and return to her native provincial town of Privolzhsk to take care of her younger brother Vanya and her heavily drinking father. Upon arriving home, Anya learns many unsavory details about her family’s life that had previously been unknown to her. It turns out that her father began drinking because of his late wife’s constant affairs with Sergei, the chief physician of the local clinic. The relationship was so serious that a secret DNA test was performed on Vanya, confirming that the boy’s real father was Sergei. Anya does not know this terrible truth, much less that Sergei and his son Misha have devised a cunning plan to adopt Vanya, in which Anya herself, without suspecting it, is destined to play a decisive role. The Series vividly illustrates the realities of modern life and the lengths some people are willing to go to in order to achieve their goals.
