The three-part Soviet adventure movie "Treasure Island" is based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 bestseller of the same name and follows the original text quite closely. Set in the second half of the 18th century in Bristol, Great Britain, it tells how a treasure card belonging to Captain Flint himself, showing treasures buried on a lost island in the Atlantic Ocean, accidentally falls into the hands of three inseparable friends: young Jim Hawkins, the innkeeper’s son, Dr. Livesey, and Squire Trelawney. The friends decide to set off at once on an exciting adventure aboard the schooner «Hispaniola», commanded by Captain Smollett. There is just one thing Hawkins, Livesey, and Trelawney failed to take into account: the harmless cook on their ship is no cook at all, but the legendary pirate John Silver, who intends to claim the treasure for himself and his gang, whom he has placed aboard as ordinary sailors. Vladimir Vorobyov’s movie will be a true gift for all fans of the adventure genre, maritime romance, and movies about strong male friendship.
