The first season of the detective Series "Foundling" immerses viewers in the tense atmosphere of the establishment of Soviet power, at the height of the NEP. A nimble con man and thief nicknamed Foundling incurs the wrath of a powerful Novgorod crime boss and is forced to flee the city. Having "resurfaced" in Leningrad under forged documents, he joins the NKVD and quickly becomes a true star of the criminal investigation department. Foundling’s old criminal skills prove more useful than ever, and he is already considering putting an end to his dark past for good, but then it turns out that valuables confiscated from "enemies of the people" are being prepared for shipment abroad. Foundling begins contemplating the possibility of pulling off the heist of the century. The situation is further complicated by the growing attraction between Foundling and his pretty colleague from the criminal investigation department, Anna Kalinina. Moreover, his former Novgorod accomplices are also hunting him, as they too have their own designs on the stash. Foundling now risks being either killed or arrested every day.
