The thousand-year-old monarchy was crushed under the onslaught of the February Revolution, and the last emperor, representing the House of Romanov, was forced to abdicate the throne. In an instant, what the revolutionaries had so dreamed of came to pass – the people gained their long-awaited freedom. However, instead of prosperity and progress, this led to a profound economic crisis, as well as military defeats. This was followed by another most severe event – the October Revolution.
