The melodramatic Series "Porogi" tells the story of the friendship between two orphanage boys, Andrei Ganzha and Dmitry Volkov, who decide to devote themselves to serving their homeland. Having risen to the rank of lieutenants, the friends are assigned to the border town of Sosny, where they move together with a girl named Katya, whom they met on the train. The girl moved to Sosny to be closer to her fiancé Matveyev, the commandant of the military town. Andrei, meanwhile, knows these places well, since Colonel Sergei Reutov, his stepfather, has been serving in Sosny for a long time. As it happened, Andrei fell in love with Reutov's daughter Polina, his stepsister, and was deeply troubled by the fact that she saw him as a brother. Moreover, Polina has her eye on Dmitry Volkov, who, in turn, is not interested in a serious relationship. Andrei himself is loved by the granddaughter of old Buryat Vanchik, a friend of Colonel Reutov. Immediately after the young officers arrive, Olga, the wife of Senior Lieutenant Yegor Denisov, leaves her husband because she is tired of living in the wilderness and has also taken a lover. Upon learning of his beloved's betrayal, Denisov intends to take his own life. Thus, the fates of the residents of the small town become closely intertwined with Volkov and Ganzha, who have arrived there to serve.
