After the divorce, Margo decides to move to America and take her six-year-old daughter Nika with her. Her ex-husband Sergei refuses to sign a travel permit, so Margo, with the help of influential lawyer Vadim Makhnovsky, has him stripped of his parental rights through the courts. Sergei has only ten days left to file an appeal. Help comes from lawyer Ekaterina Loginova, who is just starting her career. She must face Makhnovsky himself in court—her former teacher and idol. In the course of the struggle, she will have to choose between her feelings, professional duty, and the truth that they are trying to conceal.
