At the center of the plot is the story of the ordinary Abramov family, whose life turns into a nightmare overnight. Tanya is waiting for her husband Sasha at the bank to finalize the purchase of a new apartment. But instead of her spouse, she receives news that his car has been found outside the city with traces of blood, while Sasha himself has vanished without a trace along with a large amount of money. Left out on the street with no means of survival, Tanya must not only provide for her son but also prove that her husband could not have simply been “removed” from her life. The police lean toward the version of a voluntary disappearance, but the woman instinctively feels that there is something more at play. In search of the truth, Tanya delves into the dark corners of her and Sasha’s past, where every discovered fact becomes another piece of a mosaic forming an utterly unexpected picture. The deeper she digs, the clearer it becomes: her marriage was built on a carefully constructed lie, and the man she loved may not be who he claimed to be.
