The 1960s. Engineer Demin’s family could be called ideal: a happy marriage to his beloved wife Lydia, a top student son, and a beautiful daughter.
But everything begins to change rapidly on Lydia’s birthday, which she traditionally celebrated with friends and family at their country house outside Moscow. Her son Slava arrives for the celebration, but not alone—he is accompanied by the mysterious Zoya, whom he unexpectedly proposes to. From that moment on, the young woman becomes a source of discord, disrupting the family’s usual way of life and exposing long-hidden secrets.
