The story begins when the charming Victoria, the widow of the late journalist Olaf, who died several years ago under mysterious circumstances, arrives in Russia. Under the pretext of a hunting trip, she comes to the «Gremyachy Log» estate in the Tula Region. Victoria is accompanied everywhere by Vsevolod Grinko, her father’s longtime business partner, who introduces her to a gamekeeper named Fyodor Klintsov. This weary, life-worn man is the true purpose of her trip to Russia. Victoria is certain that former Captain Klintsov is none other than her husband’s killer. However, after a series of absurd mishaps and incidents, she changes her mind, thereby signing a death sentence not only for herself, but for Fyodor as well.
