The first season of the Series «The Penal Battalion» is set in 1946. After the end of the war, Captain Ignat Belov returns to his hometown and meets an old acquaintance on the train—a gangster named Sych. Long ago, Sych persuaded Ignat to join him in a robbery, and it all ended with Ignat having to rescue his accomplice after he got trapped. Now Sych once again offers Ignat a job, but this time Belov decides to refuse and even thwart the gangster. His initiative results in his arrest. However, the investigation gives Ignat a chance to clear his name. To do so, he must infiltrate Gorely’s dangerous gang through Sych and find the stolen valuables.
