The first season of the Series is set at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in Siberia. At the center of the plot is the strong-willed and determined Prokhor. He is the son of the merchant Pyotr Gromov, who inherited the fortune of Prokhor’s grandfather, who had amassed it through robbery. As it happened, both Prokhor and Pyotr fell in love with the same woman—the fatal beauty Anfisa. To get rid of his rival, Pyotr sends his son on an expedition along the Gloomy River. At the time, it was considered impassable, and in essence, the father was sending his son to certain death. However, Prokhor managed to survive this difficult journey and, upon returning home, decided to become a conqueror of Siberia and increase his wealth.
