Businessman Anton Novikov, the husband of new intern Darya, whom Olga has already befriended, has been murdered. The widow becomes the prime suspect in the case, but she herself is convinced that Anton was killed because of his book, which is about to be published. Deciding to investigate this theory, Olga studies the manuscript, where the mathematician finds a message encrypted using the Caesar cipher. To find the key to it, Olga needs to uncover certain details from Anton’s past. However, this proves more difficult when an attempt is made on Darya’s life, the only witness.
