The plot of the Russian melodramatic Series "Shores" tells the story of a simple village girl named Tanya, who is about to finish school. The girl grew up without parents and was raised by a despotic grandmother, who oppressed her granddaughter to such an extent that Tanya literally counted the days until she received her diploma and began a full-fledged adult life. To Tanya’s disappointment, her first love turns into her first cruel heartbreak. The girl accidentally becomes pregnant by her classmate Sergey, but he is no candidate for fatherhood, so before she has even had the chance to grow up, Tanya faces the grim prospect of becoming a single mother. Her would-be mother-in-law pressures the girl, demanding that she have an abortion, but meets with a categorical refusal. The quarrel ends tragically: Tanya loses her footing and tumbles down the stairs. She suffers a miscarriage, and the doctors’ conclusion devastates the unfortunate girl—she will never be able to have children again. Many would have broken under such blows of fate, but Tanya, displaying admirable willpower, decides to keep living no matter what, find a real man, and build her own happiness.
