The war drama «Battle for Moscow», which can be watched online, is divided into several parts that sequentially cover each stage of the German troops’ advance. This is a four-episode movie epic dedicated to the events that took place on the eve of the invasion by Hitler’s troops and during the first year of the Great Patriotic War. It is a distinctive war saga that tells not so much about specific characters as about the war as a whole: about how the Russian command prepared for the invasion and how accurate the predictions of the supreme commanders-in-chief were. The first part of the movie is called «Aggression»: its two episodes tell of the work of Soviet intelligence officers who sent messages home containing information about the impending attack, and of the very first battles, as a result of which the Red Army was forced to retreat deeper into the country. The second part tells of the development by Hitler’s штаб of the «Typhoon» plan (the second part of the movie has the same title), whose goal was the capture of Moscow, the development of a defensive operation by the Soviet command, and the stages of the battle itself.
