The main character of this four-episode movie is Vera Sergeyevna Filatova, an inspector with the Social Support Committee. Until recently, she had a happy life in Moscow, but her husband’s infidelity forced her to return to her hometown in the provinces. Her teenage daughter Katya had to go there with her. Vera’s first case turns out to be quite a difficult situation: a woman’s own son will not let his mother into her own apartment. He resented her because 10 years earlier she had left him alone to care for her sister, who had been paralyzed after a car accident. Now that sister has died, and the woman simply wants to return home. Police Captain Zakharov, who has an overly acute sense of justice and is even willing to break all the laws for its sake, must help with this case against his will.
