Lyuba lives in a village with her husband Grisha, their two children, her mother-in-law, and her father-in-law. Like millions of other women, she carries the burden of her family, work, and household while enduring her quarrelsome mother-in-law and her husband’s infidelity. But one day, significant changes occur in Lyuba’s life. A Moscow businessman named Pavel falls in love with her, but the heroine does not return his feelings, even though she likes him too. Lyuba remains faithful to her husband, but when Grisha learns of Pavel’s interest in his wife, he beats her. As a result, Lyuba takes the children and moves to the capital with Pavel. However, the heroine cannot forget Grisha and, as it turns out, cannot live without him.
