The Russian comedy television series "Village Comedy" immerses viewers in the pastoral atmosphere of the Russian countryside—the village of Pyshkino, where spouses Konstantin and Galina live. The ever-cheerful joker Kostya, played by Marat Basharov, is a veritable walking disaster who provokes all sorts of comical situations. Kostya’s wife Galya, played by Maria Golubkina, has truly angelic patience, but even that is not limitless, and as a result the woman begins to contemplate divorce. Life in the countryside bears little resemblance to city life, but the residents of Pyshkino have no time to be bored: every day brings vivid events, and in those rare moments when they have a chance to take a break from their worries, they like to indulge in dreams. The idyll is disrupted by the arrival in Pyshkino of the major businessman Yuri Mironovich Bovt, who has decided to buy a house in the village. At first, the villagers greeted the nouveau riche’s arrival with hostility, but soon realized that Bovt was by no means the embodiment of evil—and was, in fact, quite handsome. Yuri Mironovich himself becomes interested in Galya, who has just had a scandal with Kostya.
