The Series opens in Moscow in 1978. Police Captain Sergey Shmakov and Senior Lieutenant Polina Novgorodtseva take on a fraud case: a certain con man gains the trust of influential women, using them for his own purposes before disappearing. All the victims describe Casanova in the same way: a charming, intelligent middle-aged man. The investigation becomes highly complicated when the con man meets Novgorodtseva, intending to pull off his usual scheme, which unfolds in a completely unexpected way. Meanwhile, Novgorodtseva and Shmakov are unable to find common ground, trying to work independently of each other, which greatly hampers the investigation.
