The Series tells the story of the great Russian poet Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov. Each episode reveals a new side of the hero, unknown to the ordinary reader. We are all familiar with Lermontov’s works from school, but not everyone understands why they were the way they were. The Series connects many biographical events with the great poet’s subsequent poems. Lermontov lived a short but very vivid life. His fate contained both bright and dark pages. Mikhail was raised only by his grandmother because his mother died. He then studied extensively, served, often fell out of favor with the sovereign, and returned to court again. Lermontov fought desperately in the Caucasus, was successful in love, but never married. The Series tells of a life that lasted twenty-seven years and was cut short in a fateful, unfair duel. Lermontov’s biography is full of chance events and different people. Despite all his contradictions, Mikhail Yuryevich left a most significant mark on our poetry.
