Twin sisters Anya and Yana were separated as infants and had no idea of each other’s existence until they were 20. Their lives turned out differently: Anya became a milkmaid on a village farm, while Yana tried to become an actress, but malicious gossip and a lack of confidence in her talent ruined her career. Then she receives an offer to play the leading role in a comedy about village life. The young woman is eager not to miss this chance and finally become one of the actors.
The film crew of her project arrives in the very village where Anya works. Yana will use her, a real milkmaid, as her model in order to play a milkmaid in the film as well.
